I was excited to finally get the chance to use my Sake Carafe from Japan. It has it sitting in my cabinet since 1997! The carved out area is for ice. It keeps your Sake cold without diluting the taste. Only the Japanese could invent such a practical, yet so beautiful piece! I am now on the hunt for a new Carafe. If you have ever had Sake at Hapa Izakaya in Kits you will know the one I am thinking of. It is made of bamboo, and comes with tiny bamboo Sake cups. I asked a friend who works there and she told me it's from Japan...of course.
